One last one, just for the fun of it.
I wasn’t originally going to jump in Zweibrücken, but I couldn’t resist not going, even if I had a rest week a week before. I ended up jumping as much as I did during training from 8 steps, hmm. I guess rest isn’t the best option for me before a competition.
As things go, pole vault has some dangers. Unfortunately one of my team mates fell on the side of the mat, which resulted in him losing partial memory for a short period (quite stressing). We ended up taking him to the hospital, where his memory started to return. Even though he spent the night in the hospital, he jumped the next day to become the French Espoir Champion (respect). The downside is since I took care of him, I have now been dubbed the “mom.” I’ll have to work on changing this…
I shall leave you with a picture of what it is like before a competition being the only girl and travelling with three guys. Instead of a nice proper dinner and even with my stated dissatisfaction, with 3-1, they opted for…Burger King.
