The Athlete's Packing Dilemma
Training camp for two weeks means lots of training clothes and shoes (at least 4 pairs, (luckily I am not a heptathlete)) plus normal clothes, resulting in more necessary weight than the normal traveler. This causes a major dilemma, especially when flying Ryanair where only 15kg is allowed. Naturally when on holiday I must pack more clothes than really needed. I for one have more stuff packed in my bag destined for Spain, than I do for two weeks in Sittard where I tend to have limited use for everyday clothes, but not when on training camp where I must be prepared for all circumstances.
Possible solutions for this include:
1. Hide the very overweight hand baggage before check in, so they can’t weigh it.
2. Find a bag that I can put under my clothes so that it appears I am pregnant and stuff it with all heavy items.
3. Pay for extra weight, even though they already add on excessive prices for extras.
4. Take out heavy clothing/items that I probably would not need anyways. While this is the least appealing option, it appears to be the most reasonable…All I really need are my cleats, running shoes, training outfit, and a bikini (which is essential).
